Abstract

Subsequently, the study of the play Kattalin Umezurtza by Alexander Tapia
Perurena will be addressed. It is said to have a background inmissionary theatre,
which is intended to justify a thorough analysis of the text to see if it has any
connections with missionary play. To do so, a concise explanation of the key
concepts in semiotics and missionary theatre is offered. This will be useful for
offering an insightful analysis of the content. Finally, the importance of theatre
/drama in that time will be dealt with. As well as this, the arguments why Martin
Ugalde´s work is considered a pedagogical work will be applied to this work. And
this will allow us to assert that Kattalin Umezurtza is a didactic work.
