Abstract
Felipe Dugiols was born in Tolosa, yet he studied the Agricultural Technician degree in the Agriculture School of Oñati. There, in the county town, he lived and worked for more than twenty years. His militar experiences in Morocco (1860) and throughout the Second Carlist War as a volunteer liberal and “miquelete” enabled him to become a profesional military. In his last destination, in Phillipines, he became a hero. Both his return to Gipuzkoa in 1899 and his funeral in 1900 were resounding events. His statue and memory have suffered from the ups and downs of the Gipuzkoa of the 20th Century.
