Abstract
The article shows the province of Gipuzkoa’s active participation in the
war of the conquest of the ancient kingdom of Navarre, through the town of
Arrasate-Mondragón as an example.
The narrative of the facts about the war activity carried out in those
years (1512-1524) by the town of Mondragon is based on the information
provided by the first two account ledgers kept in its municipal archives,
which, through the accounting entries, show its decisive contribution, in men
and equipment, to the geopolitical plans of the Modern State represented by
the Catholic Monarchy, of which it was the humble servant.
